Cast a Curse or Call on Karma?

Curses, hexes and all forms of "black" Magick are a whole lot of negative energy. I do not judge other witches for the way they conduct themselves in their craft. If you cast a curse, I'm going to simply assume that you had a very good reason in doing so. In general, I try to steer clear of any and all forms of negativity in my life but especially in my craft. I have never put a curse on anyone, however, if it is a known fact to me that a person has maliciously perpetrated harm on an innocent person then I will not hesitate to make a karma jar.
I do not believe in the threefold law as a rule. I do not believe that it makes sense for a person to be punished for righting a wrong, for giving someone a taste of their own medicine or for inflicting punishment on one who has harmed another who was undeserving. However, before you go around hexing and cursing you better first take good inventory of yourself and your own actions. Have you yourself inflicted any form of harm that was undeserving in nature? Are you certain beyond any doubt that the person you are cursing is in fact guilty? Are you cursing on whim? Just because someone has done some minor infraction upon you is not reason enough to curse them. For example: if you hear that your coworker made a snide comment about you behind your back this is not a good reason to put a curse upon them. When you do things such as this, I assure you you will suffer the consequences. Maybe not today or tomorrow because karma lies in wait and then strikes when you are not looking. Additionally, If you put a curse upon an innocent child or animal, karma comes with an unrelenting vengeance. And that is even if you did it unwhittingly. It is your duty as the wielder of energy to know with absolute certainty when dealing with things such as curses. You don't want to bring down a waterfall of negativity on an innocent person's life. Don't ever forget that the universe brings all things into balance. Perfect balance is that which makes the world go 'round. Literally.

Luckily, with karma jars, we have alternatives to an out and out curse. And no, I do not believe a curse and a karma jar are the same thing. In making a karma jar, it is a petition to the gods, goddess, universe (fill in the blank with that which you call your higher power to include yourself if that is the way you see it) to inflict the inevitable justice coming to the perpetrator of harm now rather than later. In other words, it is a call for justice in regard to timing. It is a petition to the Goddess to bring to a person that which they truly deserve now rather than later. Timing is truly of the essense here. It's calling attention to a situation that has been left unresolved. It is a reminder that this person did something very heinous and is still living a consequence free life.
Sometimes a person needs to feel the same kind of pain, loss, heartache and or terror that he or she caused another in order to fully understand that which he has done. Only then is he able to feel true remorse or empathy. Only then will the person begin to be sorry and try to change. I believe fully that it is possible for a person to really change. I have seen people change for the better with my own two eyes. This is why I have never ever given up on anyone. I may have to distance a person from time to time but I never give up hope for that person. No one is beyond redemption and I have seen more than one person actually change by means of a karma jar. I am most certain of this and that is one reason that I prefer a karma jar over a curse.
I am a very kindhearted, generous, loving person who truly loves to watch others succeed and flourish with abundance both physically and mentally but I also take great satisfaction when someone who has tormented and harmed an innocent person gets his just desserts. That is my shadow and I try never to deny my darkness. It makes me whole and if you never stand in darkness you will never truly see the light.

I feel sorry for people who deny their darkside. For they will never know who they truly are. They will never be the best that they could be. When you deny this side of yourself you have no control over it. Some people have violent darkness that must be dealt with so that they don't harm themselves or others. These are people who have often times been extremely harmed at a young age. If this is the case for you then you have no choice. You must delve into your pain in order to release it so that it does not destroy you. It is the only way. If you try to suppress it or ignore it and pretend that it is not you, it will lie in wait and it will eventually bubble up and strike out especially in times of enormous emotion, stress or rush of adrenaline. We must learn to integrate our light and darkness so that we can grow and be better. And we must not judge another's darkness because if you had walked in his or her shoes and tried to live through that which they did you may be worse off or possibly dead. And I mean that spiritually and or physically. Dead. If you find that there is no darkness in you then you are in denial. Try again.
When you use a karma jar you are stating loud and clear "this person must be brought to justice now because of what they have done to another". Bring to this person that which they truly deserve and intensify these effects so that they can understand and feel the same way, or worse, that they themselves through their own mind and actions made another feel. This is so they may have true understanding and therefore change and grow to be better. If the person you are making the karma jar for has not done anything to deserve negative energy in their life then none shall befall them. Using a karma jar is a safe way for you to bring justice. You are not putting anything negative or hateful unto the universe by trying to help someone to be a better person. Quite the opposite actually. And it could be said that you are bringing double the positivity by also bringing to the person that was harmed some relief and satisfaction that their tormentor has received his or her just due.

Karma spans lifetimes and cannot be broken by a spell like a curse can. I have heard people say that they cast curses that are unbreakable and I assure you that what they say is false. They may have very strong magick and have been taught how to block the magick of others well. Perhaps they have never encountered someone with a strong force of will that knows how to tear down and or go around the blocks they have set. You've heard the old adage if there is a will there's a way…but that is another subject for another day. Karma can only be changed by the person to whom the karma belongs. And that is through true persistent change, remorse and a lot of good deeds. Karma too is a vast topic that could go on for days and days.
How to Make a Karma Jar
First and always, cast your circle.
I am of the belief that the most effective karma jars are made by the one who was harmed because within that person resides the true intensive passionate energy that is needed to make a jar powerful and most effective. The exception to this is an empath because we can truly feel that which the victim does and can therefore apply this emotional energy to the jar. We are a replica of the pain and agony that they hold. Being an empath is both a gift and a hardship. I won't say "curse" but I might have at one point. Today, I can shield with great effectiveness. This is akin to turning a light switch on and off. If I had not learned to do this to, I might have gone mad from the never ending waves of contradicting emotional energy. That being said, it is still very possible to get a good and effective jar made by another, especially if they truly care about you and the subjects of justice and retribution. Someone who is simply on a power trip has what equals false motives and their jars rarely work for another. Simply put they really don't care about you, they just want to stroke their own egos. I'll just say again it takes all kinds of people to make this world go 'round and they have their place in it but it's not beside you making your karma jar.
You will need a jar. You will need black candles with the name and date of birth of the target. Black candles absorb negative energy. As the candle burns you direct this energy back toward the tormentor. You need a taglock. Something that connects the person to the jar. It needs to be something like hair, nails, saliva (you can get this from a cigarette butt or something similar), their handwriting (especially a signature), a piece of clothing or jewelry that they and or you don't mind losing, something they have handled a lot such as a pen, a photo of the person, and if you have nothing else you can just write their name and DOB on a piece of paper.
It is good to write a very detailed petition listing all the wrong done by the individual. I think this is an especially smart tactic for when you are doing a jar for another person. This petition is placed inside the jar or you can burn it. I like to burn things so this is what I would do and fire, for me, is the best energy producer. By far, the most important thing to place in your jar is your true intention. If you have nothing else you must add your intention preferably out loud and definitely written down. You can make your petition be both that and your written intention. You've heard the old saying…put it in writing…this makes it solid through and through. Putting something in writing makes it legally binding. It is your word and it is your bond. You can either place this statement in the jar or you can burn it.
Besides these items that I personally view as "must haves", I have included a link to 3 lists of items you can place in your karma jar with definition of what each item does. You can use as many things as you deem appropriate or none at all. You can rely upon your intention alone but why wouldn't you take assistance in the form of powerful vibrational energy that these items provide? It is my belief that it is important to state out loud what each ingredient is and why you are placing it in the jar. All of the items used in magick can have more that one property and can be used in many different kinds of spells for different reasons so let it be loud and clear exactly what you are doing and why. This will also strengthen and fortify your intent. If for some reason you can't speak out loud at least lightly whisper.

I've made several karma jars and each one of them has been unique, intense and powerful. It's not for me to judge, but why would you take the chances and consequences of a curse or hex when you can make a karma jar? The only situations I can see are none very nice or intelligent in any way. You may have gotten away with a lot of non-deserving curses thus far but I assure you you too will reap that which you have sown.
